S/Pain - Various - Grrr. (Cassette) passion and fury, crunching guitars, and driving beats of punk rock gets me moving. It's emotional. It's physical. And, it can create a conundrum for people who enjoy this type of music, but who aren't interested in certain themes or language used by many secular bands. This web site is thusly dedicated to the music of bands who play in the punk rock style, but who do so in a positive, Christ-centered way. For some bands, every syllable and note is dedicated religious expression. For other bands, Christian themes are interwoven within tales of every day life, cars, relationships, sports and the opposite sex. This is not intended to be a referendum on religious thought, or what is or what isn't punk. To borrow an idea from The Crucified, this web site is not about being a Christian punk. It's just about being a Christian, full stop, who just happens to like the punk rock style of music. This site provides information about bands, and comparisons to the sound of secular bands so that people can get some feeling for the music. My favorites can be seen in the lists on the right. I've limited each list to one album per band otherwise lots of MxPx. Below you can find information about many different bands. Fortunately for us, there are more and more bands every day! If you know a band that should be added, please let me know. I have also not listed the bands signed to Thumper Punk Records www. But, I can assure you that they are all-time classics worth of mention, to which I am devoting a substantial amount of my free time without pay. Their sound is similar to the lighter songs from Bowling for Soup and Blink Ace Troubleshooter disbanded in when lead singer John Warne left to play bass for Relient K another musical influencea band with which they had toured for a number of years. Sound similar to Blink and the Descendents. At the time, their sound was revolutionary in that it broke from mellow traditional Christian rock. In many respects, these guys were the first out of the foxhole in terms of melding Christian beliefs with a punk rock sound. Both angry at the sins of the world and adamantly steadfast in their dedication to Jesus, their live shows were a truly evangelical experience. Their rebellious and outspoken nature brought lots of slings and arrows from the punk community, as well as a total misunderstanding on the part of many in the religious establishment. But, it was fresh at the time, and there is no doubting their historical significance in blazing a trail for other bands or the number of hearts they touched along the way. This clip shows them how I remember them. Revolutionary at the time, and still pretty rockin' now. Hardcore for Jesus lyrics sung over Oi! Sound is similar to Helmet Betty and Quicksand, with a pinch of Ozzy. Band is currently recording its first album. Fabulous mix of punk, violins, and bagpipes, similar to the Pogues and the Dropkick Murphys. Religiously and politically active, the bands lyrics rail against the American right wing, capitalism and foreign politics. Lyrics screeched in Spanish. Their " Again" album is darker, more brooding hardcore than the first with metal influences and overly complex songs. I heard "Isolated Incident" first and got turned off, and then later heard "Forever" and " Again" which are totally different. You can hear samples of their music on the Grrr Records web site. Lots of cool sci-fi references with a bit of monsters, vampires and voodoo for good measure. Sounds like the Dickies or Toy Dolls, crossed with the Misfits. Perhaps a punk version of Man or Astro-man with costumes and stage theatrics. Professional, slick website and sound. The video for "Trinity" on their MySpace page blew me away. The band perfectly states: "greasy rock-n-roll for Jesus. Driving hardcore with heavy guitar hooks without metal wanking or mindless guitar solospounding aggressive drums, and thoughtful, creative lyrics with vocal range that makes screamo enjoyable and never stale. The drumming is especially remarkable on "From Isolation", as it both pushes and pulls the songs forward without overpowering with what sounds like a three-handed attack. Lyrically they challenge and reward with earnest yet poetic refrains about the struggle of Christianity. Fans of Madball with whom they are touring inCromags, and Roger Miret and the Disasters will love this. Fans of non-hardcore punk will also love this due to the passion, discipline and quality song writing. From Isolation is essential. The band works due to the excellent songwriting, interplay of male and female vocals and driving beats. Highly recommended based solely on their self-titled release. The band is currently in studio working on their next release. Their musical career began in the early s playing alternative, new wave and new romantic sounds, and has evolved with the times with a more pop sound. Originally known as the "Youth Choir", they changed the name around They are currently in the studio recording for a new album to be released in Highly recommended for sheer strength and umph. The "Craig's Brother" name was the nickname of one band member, who was the younger brother of a popular student. The band didn't have a name for their first show, so they used Craig's Brother and the name stuck. On their highly recommended "Homecoming", the band plays fast-tempo punk with infectious chops and hooks. Highly recommended. On "Lost At Sea", the band plays light rock and power pop mid-tempo songs with harmonies and balads. Their second album was a significant change in sound from Homecoming. Their new album was recorded in March Illinois based punk and hardcore band that melds left-leaning political and socially aware lyrics sung in a provocative manner. Urgent, angry, committed to Christ, with occasional Celtic sounds including bagpipes. Hardcore music changed over the years but with consistently low-budget production reminiscent of The Bruisers, Minor Threat, and Dropkick Murphys Boys on the Dock era. Hardcore music for hardcore Christians. Straightforward American Oi! Musically intense and spiritually hard hitting, the singing is both straightforward and screamo. The album debuted at 16 in the UK and 19 in the US. An official audio video was released on YouTube the same day. The Rolling Stones. A very large Decepticon with a great deal of authority and a high position in the Decepticon hierarchy. That's about the only thing consistent about Scorponok; he's one of those fun characters where almost everything about him from personality to size differs between continuities. Sometimes he's binary bonded or controlled by a smaller creature usually a Nebulan named Mortilus Zarak. Battletrap's brain modules get along well in battle, and torment opponents in concert with each other. In at least one continuity, though, he is upgraded to being a Triple Changer to save his life. In the Power of the Primes toyline, he is instead the combined form of Battleslash S/Pain - Various - Grrr. (Cassette) Roadtrap. Flywheels is far more unstable than his brother-in-arms, with his most frequent enemy being himself rather than any Autobot. Apeface is horrifically obnoxious and unpleasant even by Decepticon standards — at least the likes of Blitzwing and Skywarp don't spit fuel in public, knock over anyone in their way, or smell bad. He's a Triple Changer that turns into a jet and a robot gorilla, and he's often a Headmaster partnered with a being named Spasma. A Decepticon with strong belief in the occult and the supernatural, Mindwipe is a skilled hypnotist who has made many efforts to contact the realm of dead Decepticons, with little success. He's often partnered with a scientist named Vorath that forms his head. One of the Decepticon Targetmasters, Misfire boasts enhanced firepower than puts a dent in whatever he hits. The problem, as his name implies, is actually hitting something that isn't an ally. He says he's getting better, but his comrades would beg to differ. He's partnered in some way with a being named Aimless. Another of Soundwave's tapes, he's the dumbest and most violent of the group. True to his name, he indulges in excessive violence befitting his saurian robot mode Two clone brothers, Pounce and Wingspan share identical robot modes but different alt modes. This helps them act as elite spies for the Decepticons. A Decepticon who has six forms, Sixshot is a one-man army and among the most deadly Transformers to ever exist. Vile, S/Pain - Various - Grrr. (Cassette), and gleefully murderous, Sixshot delights in sending foes to "the great junkyard in the sky". Yet another of Soundwave's tapes, this one in the form of a Stegosaurus. He's a paranoid moron who thinks everyone's out to get him. A S/Pain - Various - Grrr. (Cassette) of Decepticons who transform into monstrous, nightmarish creatures. And their mental states are just as monstrous and nightmarish as well. They're the rival team to the Technobots. They merge to form Abominus. One of the Decepticons' Targetmasters, Triggerhappy is an insane gun-nut that loves the sound of his own guns firing. So much so, he doesn't care much for where exactly he's pointing them at the time. His main weapon is a compression cannon formed from Blowpipe, a political manager and the envious brother-in-law of Lord Zarak. A Pretender whose shell and alt mode are wolf-shaped. A grim S/Pain - Various - Grrr. (Cassette) Powermaster duo who can combine their jet forms into the spacecruiser Dreadwing. Darkwing's partnered with the Nebulan thief Throttle while Dreadwind is paired with the rogue Nebulan scientist Hi-Test. The pyromaniac Cindersaur, the violent Flamefeather and the intelligent Sparkstalker, who can transform into a trio of fire-breathing beasts. A team of six Decepticons who transform into sea creatures. They are Snaptrap leader, a turtleNautilator a lobsterOverbite a sharkSeawing a manta raySkalor a coelacanth and Tentakill a squid. A Double Targetmaster who has few friends in the Decepticon ranks, but is highly respected for his combat prowess and uncanny ability to turn the tide of battle whenever he enters the fray. The combined form of two of Soundwave's micro-cassettes, Squawktalk and Beastbox, Squawkbox is a scientist specializing at weaponizing sound. Viewing his creations as being akin to musical works of art, Squawkbox uses his "compositions" to disorient Autobots on the battlefield. Composed of the whiny Crankcase, the loud Ruckus and the neatfreak Windsweeper. They are part of the Mayhem Attack Squad. A former airbase inspector with a reputation for taking bribes, Airwave joined the Decepticons under the stipulation that he continue his black marketeering operations. Eventually, he was put in charge of a Decepticon airbase, where he proved to be a capable commander with a sadistic streak.{/PARAGRAPH}
